睽違108年，芝加哥小熊隊終於拿下世界大賽冠軍！奪冠瞬間，芝加哥全城瞬間爆出歡呼聲，球迷上街狂歡嘶吼，車輛沿途按喇叭慶祝奪冠；最特別的是，有位108歲小熊「鐵粉」老奶奶妮爾森，終其一生，就在等這一刻！

小熊奪冠對芝加哥粉絲來說，等於掃除百年孤寂，全城陷入瘋狂，直到深夜2、3點還是熱鬧滾滾；但全城最受矚目的粉絲，無疑當屬妮爾森。小熊上次奪冠在1908年，當時妮爾森出生2個月。她回憶說，小時住在芝加哥瑞格里球場（小熊隊的主球場）附近，看的第一場球賽就是小熊比賽，因此成為小熊粉絲。
108年的等待有多久？妮爾森經歷兩次世界大戰、經濟大蕭條等大事，始終等不到小熊奪冠。年事已高的她，無法現場見證，昨在新罕布夏州家中看直播，盼到這感動的一刻。
雖然之前小熊讓人失望，但妮爾森說，「自我有記憶以來，小熊的精神始終不曾改變。」她說，「我愛小熊，我從來沒忘記任何一位球員。」
妮爾森原先2003年有機會見證小熊奪冠，但球迷巴特曼粉碎她的美夢。當年國聯冠軍賽第六戰，小熊只差5出局數，就能擊敗馬林魚，闖進世界大賽，8局上，馬林魚打者敲出界外飛球，眼看就要被小熊左外野手接殺，此時小熊球迷巴特曼卻伸手將球撥掉，讓馬林魚大難不死，上演逆轉勝。小熊最後第七戰落敗遭淘汰。
好在小熊今年從1勝3敗的落後，絕地逆轉擊敗印地安人，搶下世界大賽桂冠。
